What is WordPress?
Wordpress, put simply is an easy-to-use blogging platform. Designed to be easily extensible, and customisable, both from a design and feature perspective. Or, to put it another way,
WordPress is a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.
Why do we use it?
We are big fans of Wordpress here at BusinessXpand. On the surface, it is a pretty simple (but slick) looking piece of blogging software. But from our perspective what it provides is a stripped down site with an easy to use administration zone.
This is a fantastic point to start form for us, and Wordpress is well designed to allow us to build anything we like on top of it. Although it may not be appropriate for large shopping carts, it provides a brilliant platform for most kinds of content management systems.
