How to install a wordpress theme
When you download one of our Wordpress Themes you will need to install it on your site before you can start using it. Here follows a generic tutorial explaining how to do this.
Download the theme you want.
You will get the file in a .ZIP format. You will need to “unzip it”. On a Mac, double-clicking will extract it to a folder. For a PC, it is normally best to right-click, and select “Extract here”, or similar.
You will now have a folder containing the theme.
Sometimes there will be a .txt file in this folder. - It is essential you read this txt file in case there are any specific requirements needed for the theme not covered in this tutorial.
The next thing you need to do is to upload the theme to the theme folder of your wordpress install.
Normally located here:
wp-content/themes/
You will need an FTP application and login details.
Activate your theme:
Login to your Wordpress site admin area. Select “Appearance” then “Themes” from the main menu.
You will see a list of all the available themes.
Click the one you wish to activate - then when the preview pop up appears, confirm the activation by clicking “Activate (name of theme)” in the top right corner of the pop up.
That’s it!! All done!!
Easy eh?
You may need to change a few minor settings to get the best from your theme.
